scientology?

Posted in in english, wandering mind with tags , , , , , , on July 6, 2008 by mystic88

Okay, the first time I’ve ever heard the term of scientology was when one of my closest friend has brought up the subject simply by swapping fun facts about My Name is Earl. I have to admit the idea behind the sitcom is pretty amazing, but rumours told the series is only a mere of scientology propaganda. Well I didn’t just hear and nod along, of course, until I googled and found some interesting facts about scientology.

What is it actually?
It’s a newfound religion, founder L. Ron Hubbard (1911-1986), a well-known writer yet a controversial public figure. He started it all by writing his science fictions, and introduced Dianetics, a self-improvement technique in 1949. Hubbard introduced the concept of “auditing,” a two-person question-and-answer therapy that focused on painful memories. According to Hubbard, dianetic auditing could eliminate emotional problems, cure physical illnesses, and increase intelligence. (source, Wikipedia).

The religion itself was born circa 1952, when he moved to Phoenix. Some documentation written by Hubbard declared Scientology is business, not religion. His scientific approach in dealing with stress believed has given chances for his followers to deal present issues with an access to the past. By using a device called ‘Hubbard Electropsychometer’ or E-Meter, the followers should be able to audit themselves in the past, and moving forward to a better present.

Scientology defines that the beliefs in God or gods is something personal with no specific dogma. Currently, many Holywood celebrities such as the famous couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, John Travolta, Jason Lee, has been registered as Scientologist.

Cons
The cons about Scientology is also being accused as a cult, which has brought a lot of controversial issues amongst the good-old-regular religion believers, in fact some says that Scientology has attracted so many celebrities because the exercises has proven useful for actors/actresses in their daily professional routines as public figures. A quote that I’ve found has defined the cultism says,

Scientology is, without a doubt, a cult. Its teachings are taken from science fiction and eastern mythologies; it promotes man as the ultimate power in the universe—he just hasn’t realized it yet; salvation comes through an extremely expensive process of mind games; and it categorically denies the existence of the God of the Bible, heaven, and hell. To a Scientologist, Jesus Christ was just another nice guy who unfortunately was wrongfully put to death and whose story ends at that death.

Interesting video on YouTube about Scientology cult in London.

For me, Scientology is something that I should probably known about only, since some of its teachings are somehow really hard for me to accept.

What about you?

This is a poem that I made specially for my friends.. You will never know who your real friends are, until some great ordeal has bestowed you, and they are the ones who won’t leave your side no matter what.

My past has told me that
You can not rely on your friends
Lookit, they are only need you for the stuff
So why bother a lot?

Then I met them, my new ones
At first I don’t know how they are
Days go by without any surprise
Suddenly, I realize that I am being attacked

Without any doubts
They have protected me
Sticking together, side by side
And unequivocally supporting my pride

My heart filled with warmth
It has been a strange feeling, without any warns
Suddenly then I realize
They are my friends, people I care aboout

Thank you my friends
I believe our struggle will somehow prevail
If someday anything happened with you, knock on wood hope not
Don’t you worry it’s only time for me to stand up

stop anarchism!

Posted in in english, wandering mind with tags on June 24, 2008 by mystic88

Anarchism from the word anarchy, originally from Greek language, meaning without archons, without rulers, often described as opposition to all forms of authority (Wikipedia), a word that has come to action a lot lately in this beloved country Indonesia. Another unfortunate event has happened last month, a student has died from a demonstration that ended with chaotic attack from the authority.

I never really support this kind of mass picketing, since I do believe in the power of open discussion and media exploitation on some important matters. Anarchism and incidents are almost impossible to avoid. Emotional and angry mass often conflicted and leeched by provocators from some irresponsible parties. And who’s to blame in this matter? To find clues and log chronological events from a peaceful picketing to chaos is somehow hard, because the number of people involved and lacks of proof on the scene. In the end, the parties that has casualties has to reap the consequences, for lives taken.

I would like to ask you to think about your idealism, and be more perspective about this matter. Can we all think about a system that will work, without any collaterals? Is it worth the live of a fellow student? Will our voice be heard by the government?

Stop anarchism right now!

foetus in foetu

Today is probably the most bizzare day in my life. First, I’ve got this pretty shocking news about the death of one of my family, and the other one is about a sever year old boy in Kazakhstan who ‘gave birth’ to his twin. How bizzare is that??

It is actually happened in 2003 (well I just found it out today, and I decided to share this amazing phenomenon with you), a boy name Alamjan one day found out that his belly is pretty much swollen. Then the teacher in his school got him into the hospital. The doctors scanned his belly, decided that it was a vast cyst and decided to operate on him. They’ve found a huge mass, and it was a difficult surgery because the mass was covered with blood vessels and connected to his arteries.

The surgeons was intrigued to find out what was in the mass, so they decided to cut it out. And (I don’t ever want to imagine this) they’ve found arms, hair, toenails, genital even a head with approximation of a face! A Vancouver-based paediatric pathologist, Dr. Virginia Baldwin, claimed that this condition is called foetus in foetu, a rare condition in which twins are conceived from one egg but the twinning is unequal, and at an early stage of development the incomplete twin is enveloped by the normal one, living off it as a parasite.

According to Dr. Baldwin to Times Online, “When twins are conceived there can be competition for resources and only one may survive,” she says. “Depending on the anatomy and physiology of the placenta shared by the twins, a situation may develop which favours one or the other. If there is an imbalance in the blood flow, you have a hazardous situation.”

Wow.. Anyway, the kid’s just told that he has eaten a bad fruit, some white lies the docs told him so he wouldn’t be depressed or psychologically injured.

Even so, this is completely bizzare for me..

warrior of the light, a manual…

A beautiful and wonderful book by Paulo Coelho. I always stunned by the way he wrote.. Here, I would like to quote some of the book’s memorable passage.

For the Warrior there is no such thing as an impossible love.

He is not intimidated by silence, indifference, or rejection. He knows that behind the mask of ice that people wear, there beats a heart of fire.

This is why the Warrior takes more risks than other people. He is constantly seeking the love of someone, even if that means often having to hear the word “no”, retuning home defeated and feeling rejected in body and soul.

A Warrior never gives in to fear when he is searching for what he needs. Without love, he is nothing.

Sometimes the Warrior feels as if he were living two lives at once.

In one of them he is obliged to do all the things he does not want to do and to fight for ideas in which he does not believe. But there is another life, and he discovers it in his dreams, in his reading, and in his encounters with people who share his ideas.

The Warrior allows his two lives to draw near. “There is a bridge that links what I do with what I would like to do,” he thinks. Slowly, his dreams take over his everyday life, and then he realizes that he is ready for the thing he always wanted.

Then all that is needed is a little daring, and his two lives become one.

At the beginning of his struggle, the Warrior of Light stated “I have dreams”.

After some years, he realizes that it is actually possible to reach his goal; he knows that he will be rewarded.

At that moment, he feels sad. He knows about other people’s unhappiness, about the loneliness and frustation experienced by so much of humanity, and he does not believe that he deserves what he is about to receive.

His angel whispers: “Give it all up.” The Warrior kneels down and offers God his conquests.

That act of surrender forces the Warrior to stop asking foolish questions and helps him to overcome his feelings of guilt.

The Warrior know that no man is an island.

He cannot fight alone; whatever his plan, he depends on other people. He needs to discuss his strategy, to ask for help, and, in moments of relaxation, to have someone with whom he can sit by the fire, someone he can regale with tales of battle.

But he does not allow people to confuse this camaraderie with insecurity. He is transparent in his actions and secretive in his plans.

A Warrior of the Light dances with his companions, but does not place the responsibility for his actions on anyone else.
